BIET Alumni Association came in to existence in the year 1994 with the then principal Prof. G.S.Shivanna as president and Dr. Sharanaprabhu, Faculty in Mechanical Engg. Dept. as Secretary. During this period few activities were conducted within the preview limits. In the year 2005, Mr. S.B.Patil, Faculty in Civil Engg. Dept. took the charge as secretary and Prof. Y. Vrushabhendrappa, the then principal continued as president in the year 2009, one Alumni meet was conducted under the Presidentship of Dr. B.T. Achyutha, the then Principal as president and Mr. S.B. Patil as secretary. This Meet has helped many students of BIET for their Placement and Training. In the year 2010, Mr. M.C. Patel senior Faculty in Textile Dept, took the Charge as secreattary of BIET Alumni Association and conducted one Mega Alumni Meet 0n 1st May 2010. During this meet, many students working across the country participated in the meet and exchanged their experiences and relished their memories. This meet has helped many students for seeking jobs. In the year Jan. 2012, the BIET Textile Alumni Meet was held under the leadership of M.C.Patel Senior faculty of Textile Dept, and Secretary of BIET Alumni Association Dr.S.Subrahmanya Swamy, the present Principal was the president and prof. Y. Vrushabendrappa, Present Director of BIET was the Advisor. Many textile students working acrross the country and world participated and helped many textile students for their placement. On this occasion, the Heads of Textile Department who have rendered yeoman Service for the growth of Textile department from the day of inciption were felicitated.

The institution endeavours to provide broad based education and assistance for its students so that they may move towards the fulfilment of their dreams and aspirations. Since from its inception, institute has produced graduates, post graduates and doctorates in diverse disciplines, who have remarkably contributed in their respective fields and are now a part of our Alumni Association. Alumni members are spread across the world; the college alumni association remain connected with their alma mater as well as their friends/contemporaries through the association activities. The institution cherishes its alumni, as not only they are role models for the coming generations but also ambassadors for promoting the Institute’s Vision and Mission. The association is committed to establish, foster and nurture a strong bond between the alumni and the institution for achieving excellence and reaching newer heights. The alumni association members are committed to develop a strong relationship between the alumni and the Institution and to develop different platforms for achieving excellence at the Institute.
In each department, a separate alumni coordinator has been identified and they are the key person for building association with the alumni. Departments regularly organizes alumni meets at the department level.
The Alumni Association ensures and facilitates interactions between alumni and the current students by providing forums and creating opportunities for interactions.
The Alumni Association strongly encourages its members to collaborate with the institution, stay in touch with its members and give valuable suggestions for the development and upliftment of their alma mater.
The institute also welcomes suggestions from the alumni for its academic growth.

Dr. Vikram Kanmukhla is responsible for integrating Cupron technology into polymers and interfacing with partner companies in product development. In this capacity, he oversees Cupron R&D lab and QAQC lab in the United States. Dr. Shreedhara K S completed his post graduation at NITK, Surathkal and Ph.D from Manipal University, Manipal. He is presently working as professor in CSE, University BDT College of Engineering , Davanagere from 1993 to date. He is working/ worked as Chairman DOS in CSE, Co-ordinator(Tabulation), Dean(Academic), Placement and Training Officer etc. For his contribution to these works, he receive “Letter of Appreciation” from Kuvempu University and “Academic Achievement Award” from UBDT-VTU. He is instrumental in starting on-line thesis evaluation software at examination section of VTU and actively involved in various development activities of VTU as a Member/ Chairman of various committees for which he received “Letter of Appreciation” from Registrar (Evaluation) , VTU, Belagavi . He is presently academic Senate member and BOS Chairman of CS/IS Board of VTU. Tumkur University used his service to execute Campus Wide Networking (CWN) project and other various development activities of the University for which he receivrd letter “Letter of Appreciation” from Tumkur University , Tumkur. He developed course materials for the Distance Education Programme of Kuvempu University and he is a co-author for the textbook entitled “Computer Graphics with Open GL”. He is a Fellow member of IEI, life member of ISTE and CSI. He has published more than 30 research articles for various Conferences/ Journals out of which he has received four “Best Research Paper Awards ” and a fellowship of $2100 from Boston University, Boston, USA. He received a grant of Rs. 20.00 lakhs from VGST, Department of IT/BT, Government of Karnataka to establish Research Lab at UBDT College of Engineering, Davanagere and Rs. 17.00 lakhs from AICTE, New Delhi for MODROB Projects . Successfully running engineering and innovation with teams that are in remote locations is also very key. In the previous stint at Amazon, I worked as a Sr Software Development Manager for building a scalable platform in the Fin-tech space for the spend and expense management, Cost allocation and the ledger bookings as part of liability and payment accruals. In the previous stint worked at Net App as an Engineering Director for one of its big data platform and part of the team that dabbles with bridging the gap between the bleeding edge technologies that are not yet enterprise-ready but has huge potential and making them enterprise-ready also with world-class technology leaders. During his masters he worked on the project entitled “Bioprocessing of rice bran as a functional food ingredient” at Central Food Technological Research Institute Mysore, India. He secured top ranking in his post-graduation and bagged a gold medal. Besides, he also qualified GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test for Engineering) with 91 Percentile in biotechnology division. Ashish obtained his PhD (Biochemical Engineering) in 2018 from the Department of biosciences and bioengineering, Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati. His doctoral research primarily focused on engineering methylotrophic yeast Pichia pastoris and optimizes the process in shake flask as well as reactor scale to produce a high titer of human interferon gamma. Later he joined as Research Fellow in Metabolic Engineering, Center for climate and environmental protection in Cranfield university, United Kingdom. Where he worked on engineering of oleaginous yeast Yarrowia lipolytica for the production of value added products such as xylitol and succinic acid using renewable carbon sources such as sugarcane bagasse hydrolysate and crude glycerol. Currently he is working as Assistant Professor in Department of Biotechnology, National Institute of Technology Warangal. Dr Ashish has specialization in bioprocess and metabolic engineering of microbial cell factories for the production of biological products at high titer in reactor scale. He is interested in developing second generation biorefinery by utilizing renewable sources. Currently his research focused on. Pathway manipulation of cell factories for sustainable growth and production on renewable carbon sources. Optimization of process parameters in bioreactor level for maximizing the productivity of platform chemical commodities. Developing the mathematical models to understand the genotype-phenotype relationship of cell factories. He has published 41 research articles in journals of international reputation and also has 7 book chapters.
